Maths in the Digital Age: Innovation Through Numbers

We are thrilled to share the excitement and success of our Welly’s Maths Challenge. Each year group participated in Welly's Maths Challenge, a purposeful and interactive way to explore various mathematical concepts. 

Every morning during Maths Week, our teaching team released a new, carefully curated maths question on Seesaw for pupils to solve. These questions covered a broad range of topics, including numbers, patterns, shapes and calculations, ensuring that all areas of early maths learning were touched upon. The challenges were tailored to each year group, making the questions both relevant and appropriately challenging. 

This approach ensured that all pupils could engage meaningfully with the content, fostering both their understanding and enjoyment of maths. 

Throughout the challenges, pupils experienced maths in practical, hands-on ways. Whether they were counting objects, solving calculations, creating patterns with natural materials, or exploring the properties of shapes, each activity facilitated deeper learning and comprehension. These meaningful opportunities helped pupils see maths not just as a subject but as an integral part of their everyday lives. 

After solving the daily challenges, our pupils received a Welly-shaped stamp on their challenge cards for their efforts. Over the week, the sense of anticipation grew, and after successfully solving the final challenge on Friday, our superstar mathematicians were awarded their Maths Week certificates. 

At Hiba Academy Hangzhou (Nursery), we believe that fostering a love for maths at an early age sets a strong foundation for future learning, and we are delighted to see our littlest learners embracing these opportunities with enthusiasm. 

Through these engaging challenges, we support pupils in engaging with mathematical concepts in a tangible way, leading to deeper understanding and real-world applications. The interactive approach fosters a love of learning and discovery.
