How We Learn Music at Hiba Nursery

At Hiba Nursery, we provide children with diverse musical learning experiences through an innovative educational model that combines resident artists and class-based project studies. Our music education philosophy integrates Orff Schulwerk (elemental music education) with the Reggio Emilia approach, emphasising active participation and experiential learning. Through play, exploration and creativity, we unlock children's musical potential. 

Each day, as children arrive at the nursery, they encounter music of varied styles, cultures and instrumental performances. Teachers naturally engage with them through singing, dancing, or musical discussions. Multiple instruments are placed in activity corners to encourage open-ended exploration. Our weekly Music Garden event further strengthens community connections by providing a stage for members to showcase their talents.  

In the classroom, we use contextual guidance and material mediums to inspire children's autonomous exploration of sounds, body movements and vocal development, helping them connect with themselves, others and their environment. Tailored courses aligned with class projects integrate music with mathematics, language, literacy and personal, social and emotional development, broadening children's horizons and cognition. 

As a creative art form, music learning not only awakens children's creative potential and enhances aesthetic appreciation but also positively impacts their mental health. Within music's sanctuary, children freely express emotions, release stress and experience joy and fulfilment, laying a foundation for positive emotional growth.
